Chely Wright is endowed with a gorgeous voice. It's so deep, that you could drown a couple of Titanics in its sorrow, especially on "Before You Lie." There's a hint at what would eventually become her sound after breaking up with the major. I'm talking about "Emma Jean's Guitar," her first song with a plot not concentrated on males. The ninth track is spelled with a hyphen instead of a conjunction, exactly the same way it was written on the back cover of Emmylou's album.
